Today I decided to update my Blackberry. I own a Storm, and overall it’s a decent enough phone, but sometimes it would just lag to shit. I attribute this to the Java-based apps that I run on it, but that rant is a different story.
Anyways, I plug in my Blackberry and fire up the Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac OSX, and it tells me that I have some updates to do. So I start them. Something happens midway through and essentially my phone turned into an expensive $50 a month brick.
Plugging the phone into my computer didn’t do anything; my phone kept telling me I had some sort of error. Basically my OS was hosed. Through some stroke of pure luck after about the 5th time of plugging my phone into my computer, my phone was recognized and I was prompted to install an OS onto it. So I start the installation and thank God, everything seemed to work flawlessly.
So I restart my phone, and tadah! New OS! My phone seems a lot more responsive now, and a few small UI tweaks give it a much better experience. Though I was sweating bullets for about an hour this afternoon, I must say it was worth it for the new OS.
And that’s today’s story, kiddies. Run along and enjoy the weather
