Tomorrow Chelsey and I will be heading off to Florida for a week of sun and relaxation with my family. It will be a nice break from work / school, just what I need for a few days before I hit the ground running at my Summer job: working in Dr. Frost’s lab as a research assistant.

According to a study lead by Dr. Marilyn Cornelis of Harvard University, certain people may be prone to caffeine addiction based on their genetic makeup! Specifically the genes CYP1A2 and AHR seem to be linked with higher consumption of caffeine.
Who knows? Maybe I was hardwired to be addicted to the black gold from birth?
I wrote my first and last exam of the season yesterday, Dr. Tsin’s “Advanced Algorithms” class. I was very nervous going in, mostly because we covered a very wide range of topics – all of which were very cool! – but it made for difficult studying, since I had no idea what to expect him to test on.
It turns out that I studied just enough for it, not too much as to tire me out, and not too little so that I was lost with the material.
Overall it was a very fair class, and I recommend anyone doing a CS Master’s degree at Windsor to consider taking it. The material may not directly help you with your chosen area of specialization, but it will expand your mind and increase your mathematical maturity.
